El
Paso is a jewel in the high desert
nestled between the dramatic
Franklin Mountains and the historic
Rio Grande. This dynamic border
community is the 3rd safest
community in the United States in
2009 and has been one of the top 3
safest cities in the U.S. for over
seven years!
El Paso combines the advantages of a
major metropolitan center with the
ambiance and sophisticated charm of
a modern Texas town. New Mexico,
Chihuahua, and Texas provide three
states worth of amenities; the
United States and Mexico provide one
blended culture in El Paso, Texas.
The El Paso economy is fueled by
cross-border retail and millions and
millions of dollars are spent by
consumers from Mexico and New
Mexico. The impact of purchases in
El Paso by Mexican Nationals is
substantial by all accounts and
plays a critical role in local
retail and real estate sales.
El Paso is also the third fastest
growing real estate market in the U.
S. according to
CNNMoney.com
in May 2008. There was a 52 percent
decrease in home foreclosures for
the first quarter in 2008. There are
more than 78,000 households in El
Paso with incomes greater than
$50,000 per year.
Fort Bliss located in the heart of
El Paso is expanding by more than
37,000 and 53,000 accompanying
spouses and children by 2012. Nearly
$5 billion in construction is
underway now. The expansion will
result in more than $1 billion in
new economic impact.
For over 400 years, the pass of the
north or El Paso del Norte, has been
the main corridor for trade with
Mexico and the Americas. It
continues to be a clean, wholesome,
and friendly place to live with a
high quality of life and no state
income tax.
Below are some pictures taken during
a weekend hike by some local
residents into the Franklin
Mountains. Can you imagine
hiking the Franklin Mountains,
enjoying the stunning views and
never having to leave the El Paso
city limits?
